TRIP OVERVIEW
This custom trek explores the high mountain villages of the Everest region and ventures to the lesser visited Gokyo and Thame valleys. Touching down in Kathmandu, we stay in a quiet residential neighborhood with our guiding partner’s family. Once acclimated, we take a short, scenic mountain flight to Lukla, the jumping off point for our trek. Our route heads up the valley to the famed mountaineering village of Namche and then veers off the main Everest Base Camp route. We explore the high alpine lakes of Gokyo and venture up Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Our trek culminates with ascending Renjo La and venturing to the remote Thame valley, a traditional caravan route for trade with Tibet. This trek is for the more adventurous who wish to get off-the-beaten path and explore the heights of the Everest region. It is truly the trip of a lifetime, gaining spectacular views of the highest peaks in the world from Gokyo Ri and Renjo La, as well as experiencing traditional Sherpa culture and hospitality.

ACTIVITY LEVEL
This challenging trekking journey is rated ‘4+’ on a scale of 1-5. The activity level on this custom journey will depend on the route we design for your private group. The trails are generally well-maintained and heavily traveled, with a number of rock steps, several suspension bridges, and some steep, narrow sections with exposure and fixed ropes. Although the actual distances traveled are moderate, the high elevation, dust, strong sun, and basic level of amenities on this trek make it more challenging.
